Bikes, Bees and Babies

Last weekend the city held its annual Bike Rodeo where kids can come and learn the rules of the road while bike riding, get free helmets and have their bikes registered in the Police database in case it ever gets stolen. It was a windy, blustery day but it didn't slow Hunter down. He loved riding around and getting to climb in the firetruck they brought for the kids. Another thing they did was have "beer goggles" for kids to try on to understand what drugs and alcohol can do to your motor skills. Hunter didn't understand the whole "under the influence" lecture. I think his eye was on the prize, the firetruck parked at the end of the line he had to walk. After he was done, I decided to give them a try. I seriously wanted to vomit after wearing these goggles and for the rest of the day my head felt like I had just rode a rollercoaster. Ugh! But, everyone seemed to enjoy a good laugh at all those who took part in this experiement.

Last week, Hunter's preschool came out to our house for an orchard field trip. They got to explore through the trees and observe the honey bees pollinating the blossoms.

Logan is just now starting to sit up on his own and lastnight took to a sippy cup for the first time. We skipped the bottles after he refused to take part in such nonsense. We're getting closer to being a big boy, weaned from momma, so I can go back to work in June.

I have no idea if its related to the formula or rice cereal we recently introduced but Logan's voice has gone completely hoarse. It was kind of cute at first but now I wonder if it isn't a symptom of something bigger. ?? When Jared was a kid he had a chronic hoarse voice, but his was related to talking so much and developing vocal nodules. Not sure if Logan babbles or screams enough to have acquired them so young. We'll have to wait and see I suppose. For now he sounds a bit like Louis Armstrong. By the look on his face I think its obvious he didn't "love" the cereal.
