I meant to post something yesterday and didn't get to it, and I was planning on posting an Easter update tomorrow with pictures but that would have to wait until Monday to get it all in order.
Well, today, a fellow blogger posted this... it's very powerful gave me goosebumps reading it.

She brings to life the "characters" in the bible, that I often feel so disconnected with, in such a raw and tangible way. Sometimes I have a hard time believing they were once actual people like you and I. (You may have remembered me linking you to another post she made around Christmas time pondering Jesus' birth from young Mary's perspective.) It opened my eyes and brought my heart into focus from the blur of dying eggs and dreaming of baskets & bunnies. Having young kids I can often get swept up in the commercializing of holidays. Santa? Easter bunny? How heavy should they weigh in on the holidays? As Hunter gets older & wiser I realize the truth needs to be shared about the holidays and I need to do my research regarding the pagan traditions we take part in, rather than just going through the motions along with the rest of the world, not realizing what it is we are celebrating.
I googled Easter Eggs and what I found wasn't as frightening as when I did the same for pumpkins at Halloween... Around the world eggs symbolize new birth or life. Which is the true meaning of Easter, "Christ is Risen". There's symbolism in the shell of the egg representing death and the tomb, like an eggshell, was broke open and life flowed forth, Jesus is alive again.
Honestly, I was relieved to find out those little eggs weren't so evil after all. There's comfort in traditions and I want to continue doing some of them. As long as we know the truth, that Easter is a celebration of life. That life is a gift, it's the life Jesus died for, the new life we have in Him if we only ask.
I hope you enjoy Easter with your family and I will share ours with you as soon as I can.
