Logan turns 2 today!
We celebrated a little early this year, since it fell mid-week.
Usually, I try to let the kids pick the theme for their party and this year was no different. When the birthday express catalog came in the mail I let Logan look through all the pages and the one he kept turning to and pointing at was "Mario!".
So, a Super Mario Bros. Party it was!
I figured he'd make a perfect Luigi ("wee gee" as he calls him) with the letter L on his ballcap. I ended up just making the decorations rather than buying the kit. I asked the kids to dress up as one the characters, which was fitting since his party was the day before halloween. Unfortunately, no kiddo's ended up coming to his birthday bash! That's never happened before. (Of course, usually I invite the entire Beehive & with all their kids. But, since I'm not working I kept it to just family.) Hunter was bummed that Princess Peach or Princess Toadstool (Kadey & Addy) weren't there, but Mario & Luigi soon forgot once it came time for presents & toadstool cupcakes!
I made toadstool cupcakes for his birthday treat. I printed off coins to hang from the ceiling, and hung stars with wiggly eyes, that along with bright tissue pom poms & yellow helium balloons tethered up from the floor it made the room look sort of whimsical like you were in the game. I thought about drawing question marks on the balloons and filling them with coins so the kids could pop them to get the coins. Glad I didn't go through all that effort.
We had Mario & Luigi episodes playing throughout the party so the older generations could see what this was all about.
"Luigi" Logan, obviously enjoying his toadstool.
Hunter made an adorable Mario.
Little Luigi had more fun poking that #2 candle around in his cupcake, typical Logan, he loves to make a mess!
Mackenzie & Auntie Pam loving on the birthday boy.
Now, there's a moustache!
How cute is that?
One of the chocolate gold coins.
Some more of the details from around the room. I also made little gift favors for the kids that had the ? mark on them with fun prizes inside. For the boys I made hats with felt circle cutouts, and for the princesses I had little tiara's for them to wear that flashed lights with a push of a button. (ha ha, fancy!) In the gift boxes were punching balloons, paddle balls, moustaches for the boys and glow sticks (I figured those may come in handy for trick or treating).
I also wanted to have some extra moustaches on hand for the guests. Mario & Luigi sport some pretty fierce stache's. The girls had some fun with it!
It was hilarious how each stache fit us individually...
I think ours were the best!
They said I looked like one of the singers in the band 3 Dog Night. And after seeing an album cover from the 70s, I have to agree! Ha ha
Logan's party was a lot of fun!
I can't believe how quickly he is growing up and also how much he's starting to look like Hunter. He is such a good talker (when that binky isn't in his mouth) and is very coordinated. He loves to kick the soccer ball around or climb around on furniture and play sets. He is starting to sing along with songs and play outside with his imagination. He loves to look for trouble in all the right places, but he also has the biggest heart & loves to cuddle up. He's saying I love you and blows kisses now, too! (Which melts our hearts every time!) He loves his baby brother Grady and wants to hold him and bring him toys & binky's. He loves his big brother Hunter and wants to do whatever he is doing or eat whatever he is eating. Logan is constantly repeating whatever Hunter says, just a second after Hunter has said it. (Reminds me of those sidekicks in the movie that repeats everything their leader says, with just a little bit more emphasis.)
Logan is passionate, strong willed, athletic, determined, tender hearted and loving.
Happy Birthday, Logan!
We love you!

Jamie Brown. Are you kidding me right now?? Where do you find the time and energy for all of this? Someday your blog is going to be "discovered" and then you'll be famous for your talent.

ReplyDeleteGreat Party Pics! Have you thought about submitting your party plannning themes to www.thepartydress.net? I think they'd love them!
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie! Long time no see or talk:) I hope everything is fabulous with your Family! Your boys are darling by the way!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy little guy, Jackson (turning 6), wants to have a mario/mario kart Birthday this year and I need any tips or advice that you can give me! I loved all your ideas....SO CUTE! (cupcakes, print outs and gold coin banner, etc.) We are having it at a jump place, so I can only do so much, but your ideas are way better than Birthday Express (which is the only place that seems to carry this stuff still by the way).
I hope you have been linking up with other crafty blogs out there. You are so talented. I read a blog called I heart naptime and she has a section to link up any nifty, crafty ideas every Sunday.
Have a great day!
