Blessing little Miss Means

Today my friend Kaitlin and I co-hosted a baby shower for our friend Mika. The shower was planned at the last possible date, she's due on Monday! Luckily no preterm labor was detected so we progressed with the shower as planned. Pam graciously opened up her lovely home for us to use as the venue. (p.s. Her house is on the market if you're interested! And, most anything in it is up for grabs... I've got dibs on the blue corner hutch!! Just make her an offer she can't refuse.)
Mika is expecting her first baby, a girl. No name has been decided yet. So we've just been calling her "Miss Means", which is more demure than her other nickname "Steve" that some well meaning friends have dubbed her. (Perhaps as a way to apply pressure her parents to decide on a more appropriate name for her?)
The theme was vintage with an under current of nesting. I had a lot of fun with this party, don't I always?! And, my partners in design Kaitlin, Pam and Miriam were excellent creative co-conspirators!
Here are some highlights from the event.
The main table. Simple cookies & milk using vintage milk jugs and mason jars to serve.

My favorite new addition to my props arsenal- this beautiful green vintage food scale. I ♥ it!

An old window pane with a twine clothes line to hang baby pictures of Mika and Peter along with their daughter's ultrasound pictures.

We used this cute little nook in the living room for the table with notecards for people to write words of advice or encouragement to Mika and her baby. It was fun to see everyone's different perspectives relating to each letter of the alphabet. Kaitlin put together an adorable scrapbook with a page for each letter, allowing the guests to insert their card with the coordinating letter. This is a book I'm sure they will treasure for years to come!

I made chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal scotchies (two of my favorites)
I asked my mother in law to make one of Jared's favorite cookies: frosted molasses and then I bought another one of my guilty pleasures thick & fluffy pink frosted sugar cookies!

Pam's charming home was the perfect setting for this vintage baby shower.

More of the alphabet book.

We hope that the gifts from this shower will fill their little nest full of all the necessary items to welcome their little baby home.

Congratulations Mika & Peter!
We can't wait to meet your little Miss....
